Sunday, June 7th - Deltaville, VA to Solomon Island, MD
I decided to stay on board and not abandon ship. All systems were a go and all weather apps reviewed, so we headed out. A very short cruise day scheduled. Started out fine, a bit choppy but I’ll be damned if we didn’t hit some rough stuff later in the afternoon. It was a different scary, the boat was being hit by what i learned to be ‘beam’ seas - meaning the waves were hitting the starboard side of the boat, making it sway really far from one side to the other. This makes it feel like the boat is going to turnover. This, on top of the other day, i just don’t know what to think, except that i want to go back to the ICW. This scariness only lasted a few hours and then we found our marina. Sailors concurred that those seas at the end of our day were 3s and 4s. Again thinking…why do people do this??
