August 5 & 6 - Boothbay Harbor, ME (Carousel Marina & Whale’s Tail Restaurant)
Cruising into Boothbay harbor....

Nice marina, fun, small downtown, rather touristy…and i don’t really know why.  but our harbor master at Maine Yacht Center suggested it and we had fun here.  The marina is called Carousel Marina because the 1950s? Rogers and Hammerstein movie Carousel featuring the young Shirley Jones was filmed here on the site. Old photos from the movie set are all over the office walls.

Boothbay had several nice restaurants that the locals told us about.  The Boathouse Bistro (fun tapas) has three floors and we were lucky enough to get a roof top table and met some nice folks, other boaters (sailors).

And we talked to an artist in her shop who told us we must eat at the Italian Port the next night.  After reading the menu and reviews I quickly decided to screw the gluten free diet for a night and enjoy the home made pastas!!!  It was a very cool little place, good wine and delicious dinner.

What is amazing to me is that marinas allow for fishermen to sink lobster pots right in their mooring fields.  Look at how close they are to us.

Several Boothbay sights.  Lobsters, lobsters everywhere!!

Another chilly evening....an opportunity to wear my down jacket...

see the smiling, winking house?
