August 8 & 9 - Tenant’s Harbor to Rockland, ME (Landings Marina and Restaurant)
Leaving Tenant’s Harbor i spied the house that i want…wouldn’t it be grand?
The waters were sweet causing to Rockland and the ride was very short which always makes me happy!
So excited to be heading in to visit Rockland and especially the Farnsworth Museum and the Wyeth Center all of which house art works from the three generations of Wyeth masters…N.C., Andrew and Jamie.
Finally in her slip |
As soon as we docked i headed in on foot (we were at a slip instead of a mooring) to visit the town. I think Harry was washing the boat. Anyway, it is one of those one main street kind of towns full of tourists and locals alike.
The next day was gallery day and off we went. Spent hours in the Farnsworth and then traveled over to the Wyeth Center across the street. Both of course have many Wyeths. While the Wyeths lived in Pennsylvania the family (even N.C.) had been visiting Maine for years and completed many of their paintings in Maine ‘where the light was better’. Places that suited their fancy…Cushings, Tenant’s Harbor, St George’s River near Port Clyde.
I get the willies and often shiver when i see original Andrew Wyeth…both his watercolor and especially his egg tempera, (ha, i almost typed ‘tempura’) leave me in awe…I’m fascinated by such amazing familial talent. I wish i could share all the pictures i saw but of course no photography allowed.
Cocktail hour dinghy ride pictures of Rockland Harbor.
