July 20 - Boston, MA to Nantucket, MA
I have not had to set an alarm in months!!! The water taxi arrived around 6:30am, which took me across the harbor to the Hyatt (which is on the airport grounds), where i caught a bus to take me to the ground transportation terminal at Boston's Logan International. There i found Anna. We then took a bus to Hyannis (2 hours) and then from there a taxi to the Ferry and a Ferry to Nantucket (2 hours). All this exciting traveling time allowed Anna and I a chance to ‘get caught up’ on each other’s lives.
Joanna was there to greet us as we came into Port. I was instantly charmed by Nantucket..who wouldn’t be?
We stopped into what felt like an old general store and ordered a couple of sandwiches, then followed Joanna as she completed a few errands before heading back to her place and resting a bit before the big gig tonight at the Whaling Museum. We met several people in town that knew Joanna who reported they would be there. It was to be the big event of the season…so they say… Anna and I were fortunate that Joanna got us ‘in’. ('we're with the band').
After the errands we drove out of downtown a bit to Joanna’s house…it's a sweet loft and she had placed two twin mattresses in the living room for anna and I and her bedroom was upstairs in the loft. A perfect arrangement. We showered, sipped on a dry rose’, talked girl talk and played ‘dress-up’, then headed back into town for the gig. As you can see the event was well attended and guests were telling us that Coq Au Vin is the hottest band in Nantucket. Each of the members travel to Nantucket from the mainland for the summer where they work odd jobs and play music almost every night. cool huh? And i can see why they are so popular…they are a blast to listen to, a strong gypsy sound and energy.
Visited with the band members at the after party at their favorite hang out…a very special evening in Nantucket for sure.Ingrid |
