July 21 - Nantucket to Boston Harbor (back to FinallY)
My Ferry ride back to Hyannis was around noon…so we took our coffee on the front porch and just talked….it felt good sitting with the girls and talking about my travels and their work efforts and desires.  Those two have a very exciting work life.

Then Joanna announced that she thought i would enjoy visiting Vlady…we had briefly met Vlady at the roof top soiree (he is a huge fan of Coq Au Vin)…so she called and off we went to visit the home of  Vladimir Kagan, one of the most famous mid century modern furniture designers.  Although born in Germany, he emigrated to the US as a young boy.   His Nantucket home was warm, inviting and full of interesting bits of art.  His Nantucket home is furnished with his late wife Erica Wilson’s work.  (She is an artist as well…an embroidery/needlepoint designer).  Hollie Hopkins - your mother undoubtedly knew of Erica Wilson.  I had expected to see his furniture everywhere but he said most of his work is in their New York apartment.  He proudly wanted to show us his garden and as difficult as it was for him to get around he joined us outside.  Then he insisted we walk all through the house....and we did... and Joanna was right i SO enjoyed this visit.  It was like walking through a museum…loved it.

Then it was off to catch my Ferry, which would take me to Hyannis, where I’d catch a taxi to the bus station, and get on a bus that would take me to Boston airport, where i’d catch a bus to take me to the Hyatt, where i’d catch a water taxi that would take me to the boat!!! whew…..all for the love of Anna…..

Upon my return to the boat, we prepared for a dinner in Boston town for our last night.

Harry insisted on The Union Oyster House.  He knows how i love oysters! but i did want to visit the oldest restaurant in America.  Don't recall the historical date but that's what their claim is.  And i've always heard of an oyster bar but this is the real McCoy!

stone bar where he cracks open and shucks the oysters.....

the famous patrons - guess who is who...

really good music being played - cross between the wood brothers and ryan adams!
good night boston
